I just heard Jay Leno mention it and all he said was paint. Nice freakin' car, at any rate. The douche that bought it had just purchase a '53 Vette, serial #3 for a million bucks. The bid (his own) on the ZR1 was $900,000, so what does this asshat do? Raises his own fucking bid to $1 million just so he can say he paid that much for it. How do people this stupid get that much money in the first place?

Well no offense to Mr. Jay MASSIVE-HEAD Leno but here is some more specific info on it:
It took years to develop the clearcoat for the carbon-fiber because sunlight degrades the material over time. The coating, which only the ZR1 has, uses a special additive to prevent that. The additive alone costs $60,000 a gallon, while the mixture of clearcoat and additive applied to the roof costs $2,200 a gallon.

As far as the guy though, yeah thats insanely over the top financial dig swinging but then again didn't the proceeds go to some charity? If that is the case then I say let him have at it. Personally, I wouldn't want to be the one remembered for paying 1 million dollars for a chevy.

Jesus...I went to get an estimate for getting my car's hood repainted (it's had some bad rock chips in the clear coat since I bought it) and one place wanted $1200 and I thought that was bad.

Those GM bitches are getting pretty good at driving round the green hell and put the new CTS-V under 8min, on factory stock tires. Which puts it in AMG CLK Black series, and e92 M3 company.

yeah, over the last few years i've been quite impressed with GM's performance division. They've been the only shining star in the US Market for high performance.
The big shift in quality probably came from the LeMans racing projects, but I suppose it helps when the Executive Officer of the division is the guy driving the Caddy in that video.
Now if they could just do something productive with the rest of their beige product line they might actually be able to be competitive in the market again. Mainly, now that they have the performance they need to get current with design and interior build quality.

it's about time too... they'll pretty much have to get their heads straight, nobody is buying their missdirected abortions anyway. Americans are not too great with taking the initiative when it has nothing to do with profit, but in the current market, the "go green" initiative for example is no longer simply moral decision but a very economical one.

The pontiac solstice and gxp cars are also damned fine performing machines for the money. Infact, and I can't believe I'm saying this about what is essentially a cavilier.. but the new colbalt SS is supposed to be a seriously nimble and fast car! Plus we are now getting some of GM's ausy cars like the new G8 gt which is a beast for it's class and I cant wait to see the new g8 gxp's with the ls3, brembo's and assortment of performance goodies.
And ever since the c5's came out the corvettes have been just shy of utterly brilliant by any standard(if only they would put on some decent fucking tires from the factory...)

c0ld, i couldnt agree more.. the comming models are Very interesting, and its good to see that GM's turned around with there styling and performance..

But on a side note, to me the Sky redline/"The other fucking ugly one" GXP should have more power, if your going out and making a hot Roadster, give it more then 200hp... i would have been happy with 250-300hp so it could actually duke it out with the S2k/Scoobie's.

actually.. the gxp/redline make 260hp and 260ft/lb torque from 2500rpm to 5250rpm(!). It doesn't duke it out with the s2000's, it curb stomps them in the tight stuff were the s2000's lack of torque and narrower powerband really start to hurt the s2k's.
Should also be noted that they come with adjustable bilstien shocks, they can put in more negative camber and can hold more tire then the s2000's. And I've heard great things about the clubsport packages.
I love the s2000's and as I have mentioned before I plan to get one soon.. but these cars are shaping up to be a step or so up the go fast foodchain then the s2000's.
Oh and..

2009 they will be releasing a coupe! looks like the spoon/monocraft roof for the s2000's lol.

Now I wish honda would step up and continue the s2000's line.. but with a new engine, perhaps a 2.4L k20 with 270hp, trans-axle, better aero dynamics, more communicative steering and same curbweight, and more tire from the factory.

I'm sure they are working on it. I suspect unless they pull some major shit out of their asses that they will make a signifigent downsize in vehicle manufacturing until they can find a nich to exploit again, especially in their trucks which was their bread and butter.

i know for a fact, spray paint on Ashphault wile its raining is slipery as all hell.

But in the Dry, i dont think it would do that much actually..
