Mozilla Songbird
So Songbird is getting more attention these days. Has anyone used it? What are your thoughts? I kind of like the small simplicity of winamp, which I just dock to the small little corner of my screen, but if this is good I might switch.
Re: Mozilla Songbird
I'm not sure, but I don't think they have anything to do with the Mozilla Foundation. Seems as if they are using the Mozilla API or platform or something to build their own application. To that end, I think they're riding on Mozilla's coat tails. I tried one of the early betas and it was very memory intensive and had a memory leak that kept eating RAM at a rather scary rate. Hopefully they've improved on that somewhat.

Re: Mozilla Songbird
i suppose if you want a swiss army knife of media players. too busy and a pig imo.
Re: Mozilla Songbird
I used it. At first I was impressed with the way it could grab songs from websites and play them back immediately, but it's just as easy to download it and drag it into Winamp.

Re: Mozilla Songbird
I've never seen the need for giant bloat-tacular music players.
AFAIK, it's really hard to beat winamp.

I tried it out a few weeks ago, but didn't like how much of a resource hog it was, and went back to foobar2000.

If that was a direct reply to LawL, it would have been hilarious.TehChozenTwo wrote:I tried it out a few weeks ago, but didn't like how much of a resource hog it was, and went back to foobar2000.

The foobar part fucked it up, though.

don't really like the sound of this;
some omnipotent ueber-media player claiming its own files.
only basing this on your comments, though.

Re: Mozilla Songbird
I tried it a while ago but even in alpha it was hugely feature bloated, was at least three times slower than itunes and a total resource hog. back to foobar for me.
