Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
Actually I don't actually remember how I did this...I think I converted a single RAW to HDR, then processed it with Lucisart (tnx FanaticX) and fiddled around with layer's soft light and opacity and levels and shit. Then again, I'm not even sure I even converted it to HDR. What I can say, that it wasn't a HDR shot, it was a single exposure.Ryoki wrote:Huh. That's a strange effect you've got going on there, Macabre. I think i like
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
Well see it this way: your eye has much higher dynamic range than a camera. That's why when you look at a sunset with your own eyes, you can see all the the range of colors from dark to light in one single view. I think it it's something like 10 000 to 1. A camera on the other hand only has a dynamic range of 500 to 1.Ryoki wrote:Still don't really understand it![]()
Do you set up your camera on a tripod and take several pictures, each with different exposures and then mess about with em in PS or do you simply flip a special HDR switch on your camera?
I like very much to take pictures, but i just don't know enough about it
So you can never photograph a glorious sunset like how you see it with your own eyes with one single photo. Either you expose on the sun wich makes everything more silhouet and lots of shadows or you expose on the beach, the sea or anything else which will make the sun overexposed. So what you do with HDR is try to capture the whole dynamic range of what you see in different photos and merge them all together to have a high dynamic range photo.
So if you take 3 exposures, you're gonna underexpose to have detail in the brightest areas, overexpose to have details in the dark areas and have a normal exposure to compensate for both. If you merge them all together with a software like Photomatix or CS3, you'll get a HDR picture which you need to tone map, to find a good balance between you're 3 exposures so that you'll have enough detail in the darker and light areas of your photo.
Another effect of making HDR pictures is that the software lets it make cartoony/artsy if you want, which is kinda not the point of HDR, but it's like a nice side effect. I never actually managed to get an nice artsy/cartoony HDR because I don't know really know which setting to use to get it that way.

To take pictures of what? For landscape/wide stuff there's the Sigma 10-20mm which is within budget, slightly.seremtan wrote:nice

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
I just made it look 0-0-0 black and 255-255-255, which is impossible for your POS camera to capture.
So you're lying.
Also. If you think yours looks good, time for an eye test mr cataracts.

Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
its not only impossible for his POS camera to capture, its also an impossible reality.
Re: PHOTOS PLEASE
Not really. Although absolute black is almost impossible earths surface, all colour perception is relative and a damn site more dynamic than the picture in question.corsair wrote:its not only impossible for his POS camera to capture, its also an impossible reality.
