lol, Montreal

Post by +JuggerNaut+ »

"After the Canadiens won their game, people started attacking private businesses, attacking police officers and throwing rocks or any objects they could find at police cars," said Montreal Police Const. Laurent Gingras.

"Officers had to call for backup from the riot squad and from other parts of the city and control was taken back at about 2 a.m. this morning."

i laughed at this and etc before, then i actually watched a Canadian's game that was played in Montreal...

it was packed, there was NO empty seats, everyone was cheering, the electricity in the air was like nothing i've ever seen.

So, its not that hard to see this happening in such an enviroment.

Now imagine what would've happened if they lost :olo:

They only won because Koivu came back to play with a broken foot. Tonight, Kiprusoff will burn the Sharks

Yeah....this is pretty stupid. It's the same thing that happened in Vancouver several year ago.

I live not too far from the Bell Centre and, while I heard hundreds of car horns celebrating, I'm glad I didn't hear any of the riot shit going down.

After reading a few articles on this, it's clear that 90% of the bullshit was done by the young punks who hang around Sainte-Catherine street selling pot and cocaine. I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with the actual fans themselves but yeah...it does make the sport (and most importantly the city) look bad.

It's been my experience - and the history of crowd mentality - that certain people sometimes do look for any excuse to go nuts.

I can't wait for the Simpsons episode when they touch on this. The bits they did with the soccer hooligans (both groundskeeper Willy & his friends and that mock television show they had) were fucking hilarious.

Someone in Montreal told me the rioting was incited by a bunch of hooligans that were just looking for a big crowd to start a clusterfuck in. They weren't even wearing Habs jerseys.

Well...did you ever go to a Montreal Canadians game or just watch it on tv? While you correctly describe the atmosphere of a typical Hab's game, it doesn't mean the crowd (or their environment) is violent. If that were the case you'd hear of riots after every single Canadians game...including regular season....and holy fuck watch out if they lose at home....especially since they haven't won the cup in 16 years.

The Canadians' fans are indeed an involved and intense bunch...but that's only because they're proud and have a sense of entitlement (24 championships will do that). I've watched games on tv years ago when the crowd would even turn on their own team if the Canadians weren't giving a good effort on the ice. One time the Canadians goalie let in a weak goal....and then soon after he stopped the puck behind his own net on a dump-in, the crowd cheered (and jeered) because he didn't let the puck go in the net. But as soon as their team started playing, they rallied behind them.

All I'm saying is that the Montreal fans simply demand a good effort from their team night in night out and will become nagging bitches if they don't like what they see. Your perceptions about a violent powder keg ready to go off into a riot is a load of bs.

Reminds me of the Roy incident in '96.

the saddest part is it's round one and they were the heavy favorite to win.

Pistons fans did this in Detroit a while back.

Dallas fans did it in broad daylight after the Super Bowl in the victory parade.

Oh wait, did I say fans? I meant to say criminals!

Fucking hell Flames. Show up for a fucking game 7 once in a while. 35 shots against after two periods, and 4 unanswered goals. Get the golf clubs out.

Flames fucking disgust me. Keenan is the worst coach in the league. Not once has he pointed the finger at Calgary's atrocious defense or horrific offense (or lack thereof). Instead he's content blaming Kiprusoff, the sole reason the Flames are even allowed to get into the post-season each year.

Utter shit.

Let's look at their fantastic lineup:

Eriksson - How the fuck did this bum even get to the NHL? Oh right, no other team wants him so it's natural for Calgary to pick him up.
Aucoin - Worthless ex-NHL player. Calgary flaunts him around like the piece of trash no one else dared to even touch with a 10-foot pole.
Regehr - Shit since 2005.
Vandermeer - Had about 4 points with the Flyers this season before the deadline. Knowing how important it is for Calgary to bring in an actual NHL player, Sutter quickly pulls in another deadweight instead. Bravo.
Hale - Eat a cock.
Moss - Eat Hale's cock.
Sarich - I've lost count of how many own goals and deflections he's scored on Kipper. He makes McCabe look like a Norris Trophy candidate.
Nystrom - When he's not sliding around on the ice like a fuckwit, he's sliding up and down strip poles. See exhibit 'A'.
Huselius - Should be traded to IKEA for a bag of Swedish meatballs.
Tanguay - No wonder Colorado didn't want him. He should lose all his limbs, then he'd have an excuse for blowing chunks.
Lombardi - Can miss the net faster than any other player.
Conroy, Nolan, Langkow - If inconsistency was holy, these guys would be supreme Popes.

Kiprusoff, please play for an NHL team next year. Thanks.

I would like to laugh, but I now feel a great empathic connection with my fellow sane North American hockey fans.

I think it does indicate something fucked in the human psyche that we are so emotionally involved in such unimportant things as pro sports and ignore atrocities....such as Kracus having kids.
