I concur with that statement. I have an extreme dislike for people eating at their desk, nor do I understand the need for such activity. Laying the distraction to others, and general disgust from eating over ones work aside, why the fuck can't people wait until one of their many breaks to shovel food into their face.
If I can resist smoking at my desk, fatties can resist eating at their desk.

She was probably interviewed when it wasn't breakfast, lunch or snacktime.

I know what you guys mean... unfortunetly the few times I eat anything at work I sit at my desk and do it. I don't take lunch at all, I just keep working. Then I get bitched at by the boss so now I have to clock out for lunch when I'm just sitting at my desk working anyways.

that must be some office if a person is even allowed to go on doing that for any extended period of time without everyone else saying "wtf is wrong with you?" right when it starts.

how did it go on so long?

That, is a good question. I think there's a bunch of reasons:

- It didn't start out that way.
- Gross incidents tended to be isolated and there was time between them.
- No one wanted to be "rude" or make waves.
- She's not a terrible or mean person.
- On the night staff, most nights we sit in separate areas of the building (she sits by herself on the third floor at the east end of the building every night but Wednesdays, when we have to sit together in the other building.)
- The supervisor has no special training--Bert's just your average schmo that started working here right out of high school and drifted into the job. Most of the time that's okay, but in situations that require any kind of strenght or tact, she fails miserably.

- This situation stayed as bad as it is for so long because none of the people effected by it wanted to act. And yes, that includes me, but there's a reason why I didn't. I KNEW there was no way she would be okay with me telling her. I was the worst possible choice to bring it to her attention. Berta was the best choice because, while she sucks being firm when it's necessary, she's a big mush and is absolutely supportive. To be perfectly honest, I didn't want to upset Patti, but I was out of options.

yes that's the easy one, but I don't think, "Hey Patti, could you wash your snatch every once in a while, the smell is wafting over to my cubical and it's a little distracting. Thanks!" works as well.

You would like to think so. I wish you could talk to the other people here. Everyone has heard someone burp. No big deal. You've probably sat with someone that was a noisey eater. No problem. When it goes on for months though, it begins to turn your stomach. I've touched base with 3 people today that said it caused them nausau. When I told Ellen it didn't go well with Patti, she said tough shit. She said she's puked a bit in her mouth a few times but last night's food happend to be really wet, so there was alot of sound involved and it got to her. I believe her. At this point, you guys get the idea. If anything new and exciting happens, I'll let you know :olo:

She drops her shit and bawls for over an hour when someone mentions it to her publicly, I'm SURE that it would be as simple as just asking her.

She sounds like a passive-aggressive shithead who can't admit her own flaws. I hope she just dies and saves all of you from having to hear her blubbering.
