While the Mormon church officially renounced polygamy more than a century ago for Utah's admission to the United States...it seems they still practice it....with 15 year olds.

The LDS church stopped polygamy "officially" way back in the day (I'd imaging plenty of them still do it, though). But this is a sect that broke away from the official cult because of polygamy.
The wanted to keep it up, so they started their own religion.

yeah, saw this on CNN yesterday, bit crazy.
they said they didn't know how many dudes were involved (i highly doubt it was just one guy), though i bet no one goes to jail for all the child abuse.
I'm also wondering what the fuck a small-town texas county's social services is going to do with 400 abused kids who have zero clue about "our world" (to give an idea of how detached this 'compound community' was: they said on the news report that the kids needed to be told how a toilet works).

I think I read somewhere that they take boy children to cities and drop them off to fend for themselves or something like that.
Not sure if that's true, but it would be pretty messed up if it were.

Welcome to two generations ago and earlier. Maybe not quite 50, but people seem to forget that girls marrying around puberty age to older more established men used to be commonplace.
