If it is gone, switch off the water to the toilet tank and empty about half of the water into your sink using a cup or bowl you'll eat out of later on. Then flush whilst plunging with one of those old-fashioned plungers (the ones in the Bugs Bunny cartoons). Switch the water back on to fill the tank halfway and do it over and over until the beast leaves the pipes.

I've tried ramming the bowl with the toilet brush, repeated flushing and my housemate even stuck a hose down it and blew, attempting to dislodge, or at least blow a hole in the blockage, all to no avail.

yea imo when a high-bacteria area that stays wet alot gets scratched, goo and stuff has a place to dig in and multiply more/faster/tougher

\o/ woo shifted it. Plunging did nothing, all it did was make the water all brown and subsiquently make the whole house smell of well matured shit.

I got some industrial fibreglass laminating gloves from work and put my arm in a bin bag and reinacted the scene from trainspotting, getting my arm right into the U bend and breaking the badboy apart with my fingers.
