Saving streamed video to disk?

Post by ALMighty II »

I've been trying to save a streamed video (.rm) with Streambox VCR Suite, but so far I haven't gotten it to work. The file is 56 Mb but when it goes up to 6.7 Mb (11%) it says it's done and I can't go any further. I suspect this is the server not letting me download all of it, but I'm not sure. There must be some way of getting it all down.

S, does anyone know how to download streamed videos to disk?

is it protected? if not just make an html file with <a href="theadressofthermfile">woohoo</a>
and then do a file>save as, or use a download manager..

isn't this a TNT question btw?

That doesn't work. I guess it is protected then.

I've done it fine with http://www.streamingstar.com/hidownload/index.htm

It has a built in port-sniffing tool which will pickup the correct url from currently playing files too which is handy.

I've tried it with HiDownload too, but that just downloads a 37 kb file. :/

Acctually, HiDownload seems to work now. Just selected regular download instead of Realmedia stream. It's downloaded 16 Mb so far so it's looking pretty good. Thanks!

Ok, HiDownload seems to download ok but it's a lot of files and not just one. How do I merge them to one?

Their names end with:

@@@1
@@@2
@@@3

and so on...

No idea; you would need some video authoring tool that lets you work with RM and I don't think theirs many. Try opening them all with realplayer; maybe only one of them is the actual bit you want anyway.

Yeah, I had to delete all my stuff because my webhost didn't like me having it on the webserver. I deleted everything so I could have my site back, I'm not sure if I still have that video on my harddrive.

I'm not sure, but I'll let you know. I'm trying to do some audio recording atm. :)
