Crysis

Post by Foo »

Oh hai.

So now it's old enough that I don't have to pay console prices for Crysis anymore I picked it up...

Quality game. Still some of the same frustrations of the previous game (like terrible vehicle phys0cs) but after spending a straight 20 minutes stealthily hunting asians with rifles in woodland in the middle of the night... I cannot in good conscience complain.

I heard the alien sections get gay which is a shame... What this game needs is a random island generator so you can just run through and clear it out.

1 gb ram
bfg 6800Gt oc 256

would it run it on medium/low?

also, i doubt that quad makes any difference, or the two extra gigs of RAM. probably vista fucking up your shit somehow

On low with youre config, but there a lots of tweaks that can turn youre game into almost high quality with no lost of FPS.

lol, fps games on consoles

About Crysis - yes, towards the end the game will put more strain on your hardware than in the beginning. While the early jungle-sneaking levels played perfectly alright for me, the end fight was more a slideshow (single digit fps) than anything else on my poor 2.4GHz X2 and 2900XT.

Maybe I should reinstall it and check if my new E8400/8800 GTS 512 handles it better.

there are two killer moments. the end bit and the "other" alien bit. you'll know when you see them for obvious reasons :)

I throughly enjoyed it, mainly for the retarded physics. Throwing people through houses or picking them up and throwing them in the air and shooting them is always fun. I never really found a use for picking up the wildlife, other than entertaining myself by throwing them at enemies.

I got bored during the alien bits, and wasn't that impressed by the end sequence. also the game was missing a silent sneak up and kill weapon, ie a knife.

It is undeniably the best looking game ever though, going back to cod4 is like going back to space invaders.

was pretty... but once you get out of the woods and onto the mountain it gets a bit lame. also, not enough of the gauss rifle. that thing ruled.

the engine obviously needs some work. there is currently no hardware setup that can play this game smooth all the way through. including 3 8800ultras.
