...heat was one of the earliest ones...launched in early 97...
...Kali and MPlayer were pretty big as well later on...

i remember heat, but not much. was around the time i got started with quake2. mplayer was great then, they should make something like that for q4

BREAKING NEWS

"Action fans could be facing a banner year. id Software confirmed to me that E3 2005 will be the world's first chance to see "Quake 4" in action. The game (which will be published by Activision (Research)) is a direct sequel to "Quake II," with a multiplayer experience that resembles "Quake III: Arena".

I wish I could hop over to QuakeCon, but damn school starts before QuakeCon. I will most likely go when I am in college tho
