Update on Arnold Amendment

Post by bitWISE »

I was trying to find the current status of the ridiculous "Arnold Amendment" when I stumbled across the official website.

http://www.amendforarnold.com

According to their main page, David Dreier (chairman of the Rules Committee) supports the amendment. What I find weird in a Geoof kind of way is that David Dreier is the first-ever Rules Chairman from California, which also happens to be where Arnold is Governor. Here is the quote from the site if you haven't put two-and-two together yet:
Dave Dreier heads the powerful Rules Committee, which acts as the traffic cop in the House of Representatives. (The Rules Committee decides which bills get to the floor of the House to be voted on.) So to see Dreier publish his favorable view of amending for citizens like Arnold is REALLY encouraging.

They're trying to push it through again, eh?

The Congress seems completely worthless to me these days. Are they really doing anything we pay them to do anymore?

What I wonder on this though is which lobbying or special interest group is pushing for this kind of bill. Surely it's not just a purely republicon initiative.

I dunno. I searched for about an hour trying to dig up information and there really isn't much out there.
