If they aren't used for gaming, then I'd say they're pretty much all the same, as far as typing and clicking "Next Slide" and such.

Recently got the microsoft Laser 6000 keyboard and mouse set - really nice fell on the keyboard, just a shame I'm probably gonna have to return it (think it's faulty - see T&T) :p

Wired keyboard and Wireless mouse with charger. You will be annoyed with how many times you need to change the batteries

Micro Innovation $32 wireless laser mouse/scissor-key keyboard. Not bought for gaming, but works great with no lag. Keyboard is nearly silent. Walmart

I've had two MS wireless desktops and both the keyboards quit working after a few months each. As mentioned above, they also ate batteries at a good clip, but that was while gaming... lots of holding down the +forward key, etc. The MS mice, on the other hand, I can't imagine anything using less battery. It's not uncommon for me to get 4-5 months out of 2 AA's in a MS mouse.

Overall tho, I wouldn't recommend MS because of the keyboards.

I have no experience with any others.

A VX is great if you have a laptop and carry it around with you a lot. MX Revolution is much better in my opinion. I have one and love it.
