Turbanator wrote:Now I aint ran this place in years, and this isn't my forum anymore so I'm not going to tell anyone what to do, but clearing the T&C's of the forum do have the following pre-condition:
You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws be it of your country, the country where “Quake3World.com” is hosted or International Law. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned, with notification of your Internet Service Provider if deemed required by us. The IP address of all posts are recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions.
Now hacking games, and otherwise backward engineering copyright protected code and modifying it is a direct breach of piracy law in the US, where Quake3World.com is hosted. Under the terms and conditions of the site, shouldn't Turbine here be banned and his ISP contacted?
Besides that, we have the right to ban anyone at any time for any reason.

And he will not be banned at this time, however his ISP and IW will/have been contacted, his posts in this topic have been locked and IP's and time of posts logged.

Based on the updated phpbb3 User Agreement, half of the people in Q3W need to be disbanded.

I am sure my ISP, TekSavvy would probably tell you to flip off if you tried contacting them.
They are some of the most liberal free thinking people I have meet, with regular contact with them on their message board.
When was the last time you spoke, made jokes with and made fun of each other on your ISP's forum. Never?

PWNT
errr. and I wrote the original terms of use policy for UBB you plink. It was much more stringent that the phpbb terms which I couldn't be assed rewritting when we crossed platforms and allowed me to do pretty much anything with all any of the data stored on the server. Not to mention that when we transitioned to phpbb all the users were contacted informing them of the changes and the updated terms of use policy (it was the first time I got to use the e-mail all users button! :p).

so where's the "pwnt"-age now little man?

So if you had all the old data... you couldn't be arsed to copy/paste the TOU, only to bitch about it years later? I hope you learned a lesson there.

the old t&c's had loads of shit in them relating to UBB and the terms of use policy regarding the software platform and the rights that infopop had over the forum. you'd have to go through line by line and ammend the whole thing and it was about a page long, and with 40k odd users to import at the time, ammending the generic phpbb t&c's weren't exactly high priority.

besides, where am I bitching... all I see is me making a statement, MKJ trying to be a smartass, and me correcting him... http://www.learntoread.com ?
