vista x64
Re: vista x64
don't 99% of game not support it?
Re: vista x64
prolly...any reason to go x64 with any os...
Re: vista x64
supported apps, like photoshop etc. but even the duo cores are shitting on x64 at the mo, idiot.

Re: vista x64
I've been using it for months, but its not like I have any sort of side by side comparison for gaming. So I really cant answer your question.

Re: vista x64
Using it here. Everything seems to work just fine.
Anything not compiled for x64 just reverts to 32-bit emulation anyway, and the performance hit from that is not large.
Things will move to x64 in the next few years in a big way. XP x64 wasn't backed well enough or given enough time to grow, but as far as Vista goes, I'm kinda surprised they released an x32 version at all, given its hardware requirements. They should have just bitten the bullet and gone x64-only.

The dual core cpus are almost all x64 anyways.Doombrain wrote:supported apps, like photoshop etc. but even the duo cores are shitting on x64 at the mo, idiot.
Re: vista x64
You only need vista64 if you want to use more than 4GB of RAM.
Re: vista x64
That too. 3.5Gb really. 32-bit doesn't seem to address the full 4Gb.
Re: vista x64
I use it at work... The only thing I can't get to work is Adobe Captivate.
Re: vista x64
I'm using xp-pro 32 at work and home. I am all for hardware and softwaremaking leaps forward, but see no reason to go 64bit at this time. FWIW.

There isn't, unless you do lots of number crunching (think rendering or games). For the average user the difference will be negligible, though.creep wrote:but see no reason to go 64bit at this time

Yeah, we are using it @ work with drools and a couple million facts. XP32 just isn't enough.^misantropia^ wrote:There isn't, unless you do lots of number crunching (think rendering or games). edit: Never mind, we are using 64 bit Linux.
