bumped - but has anyone else played this? It's turning out better than I expected it to be - a bit slow to get into it, but once you do there is a lot of stuff going on. I mentioned bad voice acting in another thread - decent voices would have made this a lot better because of the nature of the decisions you make and the story itself.

And you don't have to do a lot of grinding - completing the secondary quests keeps you leveling at the rate you need to.

If you did play it and can remember - I have some items that can be branded into swords, but can't find anyone to do it - blacksmiths won't/can't. Know where I do this?

Played this a few months ago and loved it - the build up of the story is great, and yeah there's a nice character progression with the feeling of levelling but not grinding. Also, it has a nice 'fuck you here's a sword to the face' fantasy feel, rather than some airy-fairy 'yay i have a sword, let's go save some bunnies' story.. lol. Basically everyone's a cunt, it's great.

I thought the voice acting was pretty good, considering how awful it could have been :)

As for branding runes, took me a while to figure it out too - talk to a blacksmith, and get to his non-usual-trade window (can't remember exactly what it's called). There you'll see weapons for 'sale' but infact what you'll be buying is the runed upgrade of a weapon already in your inventory!
(you can test this by checking what's in the window, then exiting, dropping some runes on the ground and re-opening to see how it changes)

Quite looking forward to the large patch coming up soon, with improved voice acting, character models, more quests, the whole caboodle.

Well i just found a bug - with one of the open ended missions that have several ways you can do it, if you happen to see one person first and then another you are hosed. And its a primary quest. back to an older save.

Anyone else try out the enhanced edition? Nice of them to offer the upgrade free instead of doing what most other companies would do and charge you for the upgrade. I didn't realize how long this game was. Good stuff.

Just picked this one up after reading through this thread. Now I've just gotta resist installing it until after midterms :(

Finished my Enhanced Edition playthrough yesterday, and there's STILL stuff I'd like to do again just to see how it affects the outcome.
So far I've done it once siding with non-humans, once siding with humans (and generally being a jerk all round), so now I want to try the Neutral track, which apparently is possible, even though people keep telling you that you have to choose sides.

I also want to try it with the speech in Polish with English subs, as even though the dialogue has been improved in EE, I'm sure performances would be better in the original language.

I just started chapter 4. How much is left (are some of the chapters really short later on?)

I'm siding with Scoiatel or whatever right now.

Chapter IV is nice and long with some tough decisions to be made.
Chapter V is still pretty meaty, then you've got the Epilogue which is the end-game. This isn't too long at all, but here is where your choices throughout the game have their largest consequences.

I just bought the original ($20) and downloaded the enhanced for free. there's a fair bit of repetitive walking and the combat is kind of weak, but the rest of the game is amazing. The story is great, and the dialogue is insanely good, and that's after it got lost in translation. It actually features role-playing and isn't just another game with stats with an RPG label tacked on.

A few days ago they announced it's coming to ps3/360 with everything improved (biggest change will be combat with the controller, but I think they'll fix everything). The game's pretty amazing and you can uncensor the US one with a small patch for the nudes and more blood.
