Sunshine - Q4 Tourney Map - Final

Post by pjw »

Sunshine (aka pjw4tourney1) is finally finished, after a bit of a rough and protracted development process that spanned both multiple patches (one of which broke a spectacular movement trick in an early version of the map) and several layout changes.

Download (13 meg)
Mirror for the Fileplanet-Impaired (courtesy of Scourge--thanks man!)

Most of the great textures in this map are courtesy of Evil Lair
while the cool skybox is courtesy of Hipshot
I also have to say a quick thanks to Raven's Fred Hooper (hi Fred) for help with the glowy liquid.

All those guys kick ass, just in case there was any doubt.

Note that the pk4 does not include a botaas file, since my version (a10) of Sabot seems to have been broken by the latest Q4 patch, and I can't seem to find a later/fixed version of the mod...

In any case, the map is available for your downloading pleasure, and I'm going to have a nice cold beer, and enjoy the rest of my 4th of July.

Good map. Its nice to see maps that don't follow the usual "building layouts"

It's been alpha/beta/something for approximately the half-life of the universe. At least that's the way it seems. I'm really happy to have finished it.

Really liked the beta, looking forward to giving this a try!

(I'm out of town for a few days and don't have q4 here, so this will have to wait a few days.)

Between this and "high and dry" I suspect pjw dreams of large odd structures floating high above the planet. :)

Solid construction... And I have to give you props for finishing old projects, since I can't seem to get my own stuff done, lately..

The beta of this map was really fun, mostly because it was different from all the rest.

I wish Q4 played on this laptop. Alas, the GMA950 onboard video is not built for anything but embarassing 3DMarks. My desktops x1950 on the other hand... too bad I missed the Quake Wars beta signup, and i'm a yearly paying member :(

Just a quick note: kleeks was smart enough to notice that I was an idiot and had failed to update the addon.cfg and that it still said "beta 2". That has been fixed.

Redownload if you care about playing it on a server or whatnot.
Sorry about that. :(

Updated my q4 to 1.4.2 and finally gave it a try. I liked the beta versions, and the changes you made for the final version seem solid.

The new MH location is better and the spot really feels dangerous and high up in the sky.

A good, unconventional map! And you've got some fun movement in there! :icon14:
