Well Holdem has the same rules in terms of hands, pairs, two pairs, straight etc etc...
The difference is that you only get two cards in your hand then 3 cards are turned face up on the table. Those are the community cards.
So with the two cards in your hand and the 3 up on the table you have a poker hand, there's betting and then another card get's flipped up on the table, more betting and a last card for a total of 5 cards.
Using the two in your hand and the 5 on the table you make the best 5 card poker hand you can. It's really a lot of fun.

I've done some consulting for a online poker company. We weren't allowed to play at their or their client's sites, but I played a few times at some competitors.
Let me tell you one thing though - you will not be able to "fix" a game and make a lot of money. You may get away with it if it's at a very small scale, but all you'll ever get is pocket change.
We get together and play Texas Hold em regularly IRL though, every two weeks or so. Just $10-$20 buy-in, but it's great fun.

i made a big mistake and played for real money when i was green and got pretty burned .. play money i can't seem to lose.

i play where 10 people sit down and start with 1500 dollars play money and last man standing wins.
