Fallout 3 preview
Is this going to be any different than firing up a game, choosing a gender, race ect... I don't see how it can be any different from any other games that have come out in the past, however many years.his vault section of the game spans several key periods in the player's life, starting--oddly enough--from birth, when the player chooses his or her character's physical traits. The appearance of your father, a crucial figure within the game's plot, is based heavily on your charater's own appearance, down to body type and ethnicity.
at age one, you'll learn to walk.
Guess this will be somewhat like the other games again, press "a" to move forward etc... Unless they make you balance yourself, while pressing buttons to move your feet. Where as soon as you mature that feature is gone.
To be mentioning this at all, I would expect there to be something more to it... but I'm coming up with blanks.

Again, you havent played two.. there are alot harder quests in it..
i am playing it right now, and i have 8 int, and 9 strength.. the rest is rather Meh.. and still, There is a robot that you need to face in the 8th or 9th quest that takes ~11Hp Per hit from you, and when you only have 35HP, thats a rather hard thing to compensate.

Ron Perlman:

He did the intro narrative in the previous games.
Myself, the more I see about Fallout 3, the more I think Bethesda have completely missed the point of the originals.
In it's current state, I won't be buying it.
Sure, it's shaping up to be a good action game with some frat-boy humour, but does that sound like Fallout?

I'm sorry, but that's a pretty dumb statement. Have you played the game? Do you know how it plays? That whole "waah waah it's not exactly like the old games" sentiment completely misses the point of actually creating new games in the first place. So it's totally impossible that it's a good game anyway just because it's not exactly like the old ones?Mat Linnett wrote: In it's current state, I won't be buying it.
also, it's more than a year from release ffs

How is it a dumb statement if it's true?Grudge wrote:I'm sorry, but that's a pretty dumb statement.
As stated, I think they've missed the point, and to be honest, what I really wanted was Fallout brought up to date using something like the Temple of Elemental Evil engine or the Silent Storm engine.
It just turns out that they're not making a game for me, so the simple statement of fact is that I won't be buying it

Basically, he wont be buying it, he will be torrenting it and rubbing it up bethesta's anus. Because they certainly wont get a cent of my money for that blasphemy, they call Fallout 3. But because it contains the word "Fallout" torrenting is an option.Grudge wrote:I'm sorry, but that's a pretty dumb statement. Have you played the game? Do you know how it plays? Oh don't be an idiot Grudge. You should know by now that my tastes in gaming are many and varied.Grudge wrote:Matt, so it just can't be a good game without that kind of turn based combat? With those narrow criteria there must not be many games at all for you to play?
I like games from all genres, but in general, I pretty much like franchises to stick with what made them great in the first place.
When buying a Quake game, I expect fast-paced action with a superfluous story and lots of guns. I don't expect a turn-based tactical game.
When buying a Civilization game, I expect a classic turn-based game that is different every time and has incredible depth. I don't expect an RTS with Rock/Paper/Scissors gameplay.
When buying a Fallout game, I expect turn-based combat, choice and consequences, moral ambiguity and a darkly humourous setting. I don't expect a first person game with survival horror elements and OTT hand-held nuclear weaponry.
