Simland Website Moved

Post by sock »

Hey,

Got a brand new website address: http://www.simonoc.com/

The old website address (http://simland.planetquake.gamespy.com/) is being retired and will be replaced at some point this week with a single page.

Hope you like the new style and if you have any comments or suggestions, post them here.

Thanks
Sims

i like the look of your new site. easy to navigate and more importantly, easy on the eyes.

i have to say that your story behind the re-do of Chiroptera to the finished version that would become Batcula was a great read. thanks for those insights behind one of the greatest pair of maps in Q3.

Yay monkey! (on the site, not wviperws).

Are you planning on updating this on a regular basis? If so might be better to just link into the 'home' page so people get right to the nuts and bolts of the site.

I'll update the links on katsbits and get you a smidging of traffic, good to see you finally got something sorted out (what happened to brushmonkey.com?)

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Kat: Probably, I have a lot more free time nowadays. I have 2 projects on the go at the moment and I needed a website setup to pimp them. The brushmonkey domain did not go anywhere, I played wow for 2 years and that consumed all my free time :D I decided to start another domain as I wanted something different.

wvw: yeah its been a very long time! :icon25:

Jugg: thanks, I wandered around the blog websites and they all seem to have an easy to navigate format, so I took inspiration from them. My previous site was terrible, extremely linear and not very pretty, its been something I've been planning for years.

Nice to see that your still around Sock=)

I have a question though.. Is there a possibility that you'd consider making an .aas file for pom.bsp? When you released the map originally, I had a pentium2 computer. A couple years ago I finally got a comp that I could run it on, and must I say it was love at first sight..LOVE I tell you! I just want to be able to play it. I'm a broke ass dial-up player...and whine whine, but I figured I'd ask. I thought you were long gone so....thx :icon25:

v1|3: Unfortunately without a lot of extra work the bot file is not possible. I tried for a long time to create something reasonable but it was all in vain. I am glad you like the look of it thou, thats cool :)

Jao, that pom level is nice looking. Haven't played it against opponents though.

Btw, do you mind if I use some of those brushes, leafs and trees in a map of my own?

Quote of the day, from Sock 2002:

"I am working for a company called SplashDamage which have decided to pay me in smarties in exchange for my mapping skillz. People keep asking me "is it like what you imagined it to be?" ... answer ... no."

Bhahahawa =)

Hipshot: Sure no worries, as long as I get some credit somewhere in your map readme file thingy. Also please, no commercial use.
