Some newer 360 vs. PS3 screenshot comparisons

To me the 360 really seems to look better in almost everything.

But at the same time, I wouldn't pay a lot of attention to the details they point out in the middle of a game....shadows seem to look more realistic in the 360 games (like in virtual tennis.) And do the PS3 shots look sort of washed out in a lot of the games to anyone else?

as somebody who has worked with both pieces of hardware in a development environment, I have to say that the PS3 is a fucking dog... it is just weak as shit and that's a fact

with an identical scene (with identical assets) you have to bend over backwards and kiss your own asshole to get half the fillrate from the PS3 that you get on the 360

What this article shows for me is how fucking awesome Bethesda Softworks' TES engine is... They've got as much of a powerhouse there as Epic have with the unreal engine.

Seconded. (Is that a word lol)

While Oblivions engine is good, its not UE3. Remember UE3 isn't just "Gears", its a much more complex engine that can do so much more than Gears ever threw at it. Not even UT3 will use all the engines features.

Who fucking cares what you can do? What's important is what you actually choose to do in the game, and even more importantly, how you do it.

Serious question, o'pium: Do you know how to write a game engine, e.g. what it consists of, what it does, how to make design decisions etc.?

I believe the quote was "They've got as much of a powerhouse there as Epic have with the unreal engine.". That doesn't even touch on gameplay, sir.

So, does not answering my question mean 'no, I have no idea what this "game engine"-thingie does...'?

What question? Maybe ask a question in the first place?

I wasn't talking about gameplay, I was talking about utilizing the technology and adding production value. A game can look great technically, but still have shitty production value (for example Ureal 2 and UT 2004)
