During my 4 years at the University, there were perhaps 4 or 5 weeks in total when I worked more than 40 hours. Most weeks averaged at about 25-30 hours of study work. Granted, I didn't study engineering - my friends that did spent more time studying than me. But that's their own choice.

During the past 5 years I've worked a helluva lot of 50 and 60-hour weeks. In general, I had LOTS of more spare time when I was at the University.

That's what i'm talking about.

Besides the 'Goddamnit! The client needs this report yesterday!' kind of stress is of an entirely different magnitude than any 'Shit! I must turn in my paper!' stress.

Smoked Marlboros for like ten years. Tried quitting and got it right the third time. Been nicotine free for over a year now. I get nauseous around it now.

Plus, the stress of being a partner in a small startup company where every screw up potentially could put you out of business is pretty severe, I'll tell ya.
