QeRadiant.com

Post by obsidian »

Since GtkRadiant is now released under a GPL license, it looks like the QeRadiant webpage is undergoing some major changes into a Wiki format.

The qeradiant.com website in it's current form has completely outgrown it's purpose. Over the past few years, GtkRadiant has changed quite a bit.

It has evolved from a mainstream editor for most up to date id games (up to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory) with an open source - but proprietary - license into an editor relicensed under GPL that is nowadays mostly used for Quake III Arena technology games and independent projects based on id Software's engine source code releases.

Likewise, the development has changed quite a bit and most of the checkins nowadays are strictly for maintenance or targetted at specific features, relevant only to one game in most cases.

There is obviously less user interest in the editor now that it used to, and the outdated website adds to the confusion. I don't see this situation likely to change anytime soon, so I plan to archive a static copy of the current website and only leave a developer oriented page here.
It's pretty bare bones right now, but I just thought that people here might like to be kept up to date. As always, latest nightly builds of 1.5 are available off zerowing.

If anyone needs it, I can mirror some other files like 1.4.0 and other files I have saved locally. (Edit: Mirror below)

GtkRadiant 1.5.0 Nightly
GtkRadiant 1.1.1 to 1.4

Edit: Woot! 3000!

I mirrored some stuff (including 1.4 and example maps) over at >airrocket.net< but I think it would be cool if there was an official site where you could still download 1.4 and all the stuff. Hope they'll get qeradiant.com back into a usefull state soon.

and don't forget the best version 1.2.10 + 1.2.13-update
In fact 1.2.13 has the potential to be updated to 1.2.14. :p

qeradiant.com seems to be completely down atm. :icon21:

Anyone knows whether (and where) the information from the developer wiki is still available?

You can access the svn at zerowing, but the link that's supposed to take you to the wiki no longer works...
