Need Maps for Q3-Geoball-MOD

Post by Landix »

Hi there,

i need some mappers who have time to make me a map or two? ;)

The Link to my mod is here:
http://www.q3geoball.quakeit.de/

I try to help, too with the levelchange and breakables.

I hope someone have some time for that?
some examples i will give in the forum.
Screens also there.
Make the ball rolling!

There's actually very little info on your site. I doubt many people have heard about this project, so you should maybe add a small "about"-section to your page that describes what geoball is so people (and mappers ;-) ) can decide whether they're interested.

Some thing like "Geoballs is a q3 mod where you have to <?> by doing <?>..."

After looking at the site I have no clue what it's all about - most likely I have to prevent a ball from falling off into the void and make it cross a track as fast as possible. Maybe solve riddles, too? But that's more or less speculation based on a screenshot in the "maps"-thread on the forums.

Just downloaded it and I'll try it later, so there's no need to explain it to me / others in this thread, but putting a small explanation on your site will increase your chances of finding willing mappers I think.

EDIT:
I just started it, but didn't find a map to play. RTFM-file is rather short.

Is there already a finished map for this mod (and how do I start it)? If so, you should mabe offer the .map-file so mappers have an example to start with. Wouldn't hurt to have at least one map ready so mappers know what they're supposed to do.

I like it btw, it's funny to roll around with that ball and one can control it (and the camera) very good. Reminds me of a linux game I played many months ago.

I really have to second what fux said. It looks quite promising but this is just based on guessing what the mod is. Give the world more information.

Oh und willkommen :D

I left a few remarks/suggestions at your forum. The rest should maybe be discussed over there.

you cannot control the ball direct in neverball. You must tickle the planes.

i have neverball, looks good, but the control is not so good i think!?

Indeed. :icon31:

There's another cool linux game that's similar. It's 2D however and it combines controlling a marble with a "Memory"-style task: you have to find bricks with the same color (they reveal their color for a short time after you touched them) and touch them without touching a brick of another color in between.

Don't know the name of that one and my laptop where it is installed broke yesterday. It's not installed on this box.

EDIT: the game is called Enigma.

I saw this announced at PQ today...it's pretty interesting. Your right though...it does need some maps, as the ones you have are too quake looking texture-wise(or ugly) over what the mod needs as far as a ball-type theme.

Neat idea though.

Damn, I thought for a second it was a Qpong style mod. Was looking forward to crushing people with giant metal balls :(

Although this looks interesting too. :D

With the mention of Marble Madness, I can't help but think the Lego texture set would really nice for this: http://berneyboy.planetquake.gamespy.com/textures.htm

@landix: looking good indeed. Your mod seems to have promise. Keep it up!

Looks pretty good! Great job so far, can't wait to see the finished product... or a beta even! You should post another vid once you work with a different texture set, that lego one does look like it'll be good.
