Freeware movie converter?

Anyone know of a good freeware/open-source application that can convert movies? Specifically I am trying to convert Divx or Xvid to WMV so that I can play the videos over my Xbox 360 (I have Vista Business so I'm using WMP11 not Media Center).

I've been using this:

It was really made to convert the media to portable devices, but if you choose the advanced job option you can set it up to do whatever video size and rates you need.

It will bitch about rates that are too high for the portable device, but it'll still let you continue. I use the calc below to get a ball park on bit rates per output size.

I as for as I can remember it has only failed on me once and I just adjusted the parameters and it went through fine I think.

This one works great. I'll have to see if I can get better quality out of my next batch though.
