so i've been deaf in my left ear for ~4 days now.
it doesn't hurt at all, no other symptoms, so i figure infection is out of the question. my suspicion is that it has something to do with impacted ear wax or something... but it's a bit curious.
basically its just plugged.

i've tried softening drops which have done fuck-all, asside from making me feel silly.

(health center at school isn't open this week so traditional medicine is still out of reach for the near future)

any ideas?

goto your GP and get your ears washed out.

otherwise, try rinsing gently with tapwarm water

would submerging my head in a bath be helpful?
or should i get some sort of ear-washing bulb-turkey-baster thing from the drug store?

My ex used the softening drops and then used a heating pad and slept on the side that was stopped up. It helped abit but honestly, it didn't all come out until he went to a doctor and they shot water into his ear and knocked it out.

that depends on your employers choice of providers. i'm paying around $60 /month for full medical/dental/vision

I've had that several times, i found that blasting it in the shower with one of the jets helped after a while.
Also my research found that earbuds/cotton buds made things worse.

just gave blood and urine (random test) at a lab today, had a 12-lead ecg test last week, still need to drop by to round out the remainder of the tests (requires fasting) and provide even more urine

Had the exact same thing before. I used one of those wax removal systems; drops, and squeezy blaster combo. After working it with the blaster for a really long time, it finally gave way, piece after piece, goober after goober. Don't be afraid to really blast some fucking water in there.

When Zark gets to this thread he's totally going to recommend the remedy from Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. I know he's a Chuck fan.

You totally have to wrap up a piece of paper like a funnel, stick the small end in your ear, and light the other end on fire.*

*do not attempt unless you like trying remedies written by seemingly mentally unstable authors (Chuck rocks)

when i was little i thought i'd experiment to see how far i could stick it in my ear. let's just say it hit my ear drum far earlier than i expected... OUCH!
