not that my router is broken or anything...
I have a netgear RP114...I currently have 5 PCs, so Im running one cable to a switch...to get the extra LAN port.
If there is an advantage to getting a new router (faster speeds, some control over each PCs bandwidth allocation, or something cool) then I wouldnt mind getting a new one..
has anyone tried any of the routers with a built in torrent client?
I have seen a dirt cheap one, that doesnt have any built in storage, but will allow you to connect a USB HDD..
time for a new router?

Seriously, a Wicked Router.. a buddy of mine is running it and i am seriously considering Dumping my WRT54G ( linksys ) for it.
it has support for a streaming webcam ( Internal network, or website based, Passwored locked or not ) And an attachment for a USB HDD To use with the Download manager. ( http, ftp, Torrent )
The only complaint that i have about it is that it Uses an old Torrent client that needs to allocate the File ( name, size and etc ) before it starts to download it. And when its on a USB 2.0 HDD, that can take a wile ( +4gig files )
as for the speed part, it depends on it, usually the more powerfull of the router the more Throughput that it can handle.
for a Bogged down WRT54 it will still put through 4-5Mbs wile one that is running tip-top can do ~28Mbs.
so i guess it comes down to what are you going to be doing? Regular surfing and etc? then you Mostlikly Wont see a boost in performance at all. The only reason that i could see for upping a router is if yours is broken, The wireless Signal is lacking, or at the Very least that you need to Hard-boot the router once or twice a week Due to it not responding anymore.
anyway, also somthing worth checking out is DD-WRT, it works with the Linksys WRT54's as well as that Asus unit, it gives you ALOT more Control over your network and add's some nice tweaking features and etc to play with.
Hope this helps man! tell me if you have any more questions.
