Ladder 49

Post by tnf »

Is this movie worth spending two hours on? DVD is here.

It got hosed on rottentomatoes, but I've noticed pretty much every movie that I check seems to get reamed there.

This is the most depressing movie ever made. DO NOT WATCH IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO CRY.

There is no point to this movie as well. After watching it i felt that 2h of my life have been completely wasted and sad.

Good enough. I respect your opinion, and will watch it.

If it sucks, you owe me two hours of life. ;)

cinema versions
have them on dvd. one ive had since i got back from thailand (the 2nd one) and the other i bought last thursday.

the Chiharu chapter is just brilliant filmmaking, with the two different realities happening at once, sharing dialog and ofcourse the neclace. fucking :icon14: ++

those movies were fucking fantastic... best horror flics i've seen in a long time. the first one was really fucking freaky.
really hard to follow due to the japanese though.
was hard to tell who was who and wtf was going on for most of it, since it seems to jump around alot.

i didnt think it was that hard to follow. i guess you have to let go of the western way of looking at movies (i.e. where 90% of the story is explained somewhere in the movie).

i like it when you have to solve the puzzle yerself. keeps you busy for a while ;) little clues in the chapters reveal the actual chronological order of them, answering questions and creating new ones at the same time :D
fun

yeah, after i saw those movies though; it made me wish the japanese ring had as big of a budget as the american one.
the makeup in ju-on was on-par with the job done in the american ring... however the ringu japanese release dvd that i have is just lacking in the freaky visuals compared to the US version.
however the plot, acting, directing, etc... is all a shit load better in ringu.
havn't seen the ring2 yet (since i don't goto the theatre anymore, can't fucking stand the cinema experience anymore); guess its pretty shit though, which is a shame since i thought it was being directed by the japanese guy that did the originals... figure with a big budget he could have delivered the yank audience with a proper thriller.

i must confess i havent seen the ring
i dont want to see it either, im trying to get a hold of the Ringu box (all 4 of m for a very low price :o ), so that the scares wont be spoiled with some extra yank horror added to them.

concerning ring2; i guess the director got pushed a bit by the filmstudio as well. i suppose they werent confident in the obscure japanese filmmaking ways and wanted it to be as hollywood as possible. :(

i saw it when it was in theaters with my wife. she cried through most of the movie. it's a movie that depicts (quite well in my opinion) the real dangers and tragedies of being a fireman.

i know that i couldn't do that job. :paranoid:
