neat option there :]

also.. I thought I should post something here again, time flies...
shots of a quake 4 map that's (still) in progress, and a shot of a painting that's nearly finished. Quite large indeed, and I don't
even paint usualy, thats my fourth endeavour with it, and the first large painting. Comments? :]

Would be cool if you take a pic of that painting and make it a view out of a window in the map :)

Nice looking map.

I like the painting too, is it taken from somewhere in particular? It has quite a "soft" feeling to it, i.e. the shapes and the lighting.

How long until we see the beta of that map. Looks pretty impressive.

Also, what kind of paints are you using?

Somewhat like that long ago yea, haha. And it will still take me
another month for sure, The time I spend mapping on a average
day is pretty limited :[ But I'm determined to finish it, so it'll be
done when it's.., not undone anymore :]

Hipshot; here's a larger shot, it's not the exactly the same view tho
hope you won't mind that :]

obsidian/Myth: its pure acrylate, painted with a variety of brushes
on a 210x100x1,2cm MDF plate. I completely whitened it at first,
front, sides and back (to be sure it wouldn't bend), then with some
charcoal I made a rough sketch of something I had in my head.
When I started painting with the acrylate, I soon strayed away
from the original charcoal sketch, after some struggle with the
altered composition this is what came out. The soft feeling that
does indeed come with the painting, is a result of not folowing
photographic leads, and thereby the complexity of nature isn't
really reflected in the painting, making it a more dream'ish picture.
At least that might be the reason, heh. Glad you like it :]

Hit me up with in 5 days for a private session. I'll be enjoying my 2 weeks christmas leave then. ;)

The map is for the id map pack contest so I had to use only stock textures. Fortunately the 1.3 patch has some new textures (even a gothic ones) that are not overused yet...
