Brothers in arms for PC tomorrow in U.S (15th of march)
Wow.
My grandfather fought in the war, was a navigator on a B-24 - his unit was one of the first to punch deep into Japanese territory on a bombing run to basically show them how far we could penetrate their defenses.
The opening of this game reminded me of what he described when he talked about anti-aircraft fire. He said it was like being in a wooden crate that was being kicked around by a mule. I can't fucking imagine what it must have been like to be in those slow bombers, being a kid barely out of high school, with artillery exploding all around you...ugh.
I sat down expecting to really enjoy this game at first, but, to be honest, it was a sobering thing - actually looking at each guy in the game and seeing him as a real person. I know there have been approximately 10000000 WW2 shooters in the last few years, but this is honestly the first one I've played. Call me crazy, but it just feels 'different' playing this game at first. Probably because I can picture both of my grandfathers in the midst of this kind of shit, and, sadly, they were both gone before I could really absorb the real nature of their stories. I can't say I can make that connection with other war games (haven't played any Vietnam ones either)...
Anyhow, the game looks pretty good at 1280x1024. I'm running it at that with 16x anisotropic filtering and everything else maxed. I was a bit disappointed in the sound during the first mission though...expected to hear more explosions in the background.
I wish this game had co-op multiplayer for the SP campaign...
Very cool though.

You gotta be shitting me in the sound department?!tnf wrote: I was a bit disappointed in the sound during the first mission though...
Those sounds are some of the best i have ever heard in a game.. crank up the volume or use headphones.. and it will get WAY more hectic later on...
Yea, co-op in sp would have been nice... BUT the mp part is practically co-op.
All maps have different objectives for both teams.. there are no TDM/DM or CTF.. and u really gotta work together...some maps are big and some are smaller..
Been playing mp for 11 hours and im on d-day +2 in sp.
Let me know what ya think when ya further into the sp. :icon31:

This game fucking owns. Talk about intensity? Fuck me, that very first bit of combat had me shitting myself. I was just firing at Germans, wondering what the fuck I was supposed to be doing, no clue what the situation was, and getting a BAD sinking feeling that I was about to die. The voice chatter in the background was great, and provided the majority of the sense of urgency.
When I got the KAR98 and started aiming down the sights, it felt like I was actually firing a real rifle. This game is absolutely tits.

you dont need ubi.com(the lobby program) ..you just need to register a username and a password.. takes less than a minute and then connect and never have to worrie about it again.DooMer wrote:nah, screw that ubi.com shit.
Your telling me your never gonna try it online because of a 1 minute registration thingy?

Practice practice and practice.. im pretty used to iron sights and i love it.
Whatever you do.. DO NOT turn on cross hairs and turn OFF the suppressing symbol in sp.. it makes it more realistic AND it prepares you for online play where you dont have x-hairs nor supressed symbols over the enemy´s head.

And im done
man i wish there was more... its so awsome!
Im really hoping for an expansion and expansion packs costs money so start buying it lads!
There is alot of extras to unlock and every chapter can be played different from the last time... you can take different approaches on almost any scenario in the game so it wont be boring to play it over again.. atleast i dont think so. :icon31:
