south korean psychological thriller meets greek tragedy which has one of the most sickeningly clever (by which i mean one of the most SICKENING and one of the most CLEVER) plot twists at its conclusion. best film ive seen in about 2 years.
I saw it coming at the sushi place, the first thing I asked was "is that his daughter? Have you seen the directors other movies? I think he may be a one-trick pony and Old Boy is the best he'll do.

children of men - 5/10 - pretty disappointing, low-budget nonsense, combining the premise of 'the handmaid's tale' (better looking) with the setting of 'v for vendetta' (more fun)

Yeah the first film he made was Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, last was Lady Vengeance. O.K., sick definitely, but not great. If you get the chance, watch Taeguki (korean civil war movie) or Samuria (child prostitution), both are outstanding.

Black Rain: 7/10. Konnichi wa, motherfuckers! The print on the new disc is fantastic. Ken Takakura ftw.

That was a great flick. Michael Douglas has done some decent movies, Falling Down comes to mind, along with War of the Roses.

X-Men 3 5/10. Ok, nothing special. Still don't like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and I wanted to see more of Colossus. And WTF is with the no Sentinels bullshit?

Hostel: 5/10. The 5 points are for the 'revenge against the Eurocunts" scene near the end. That, my dear, was class.

An Unfinished Life

6.5/10 a decent, slower change of pace for me.

saw Mean Creek last night. 7/10

its pretty dark, builds up tension so well. starts off like some really average childhood movie about kids playing pranks on each other but then gets really sinister. :paranoid:

If you don't like his humour then why see the movie? He plays the same character in every movie he's been in.

i thought that he was gonna end up eating his daughter without realizing it. I was waiting for that until right at the very end!
