Horrible Maps

I made this a while ago for 15 minutes of eye-burning fun in cpma. Play it in ctf, the blue team is the only team that can cap, red is defence. Turn up your gamma before loading the map for maximum effect. Should work in baseq3 too, not sure. No arena file or such, so you need to load it manually with \sv_pure set to 0.

I get tempted every now and then to try to make the worst map ever.

I even wrote up a bunch of notes one night when I was bored. Stuff like "have one stair on a stairway that's too high and slanted off to the side so it shunts you off into a pool of lava if you don't jump over it" and "a whole room with ceiling beams that are 8 units too low so you have to crouch over and over to walk across the room".

Fullbright with lots of shiny shit and missing textures...

We should have a contest.

it just seems so wrong to intentionally make a bad level... Although it may be interesting to run around for a minute or so in a level thats spectacularly bad, I dont think it would be worth the effort it would take to make it. Plus, if your trying to make it bad, it just doesnt have the same entertainment value.

It would be more fun to pick out dreadful community maps that were supposed to be good but failed miserably - like a hall of shame type of deal..

I think I may still have an alpha from 99 or so that I could submit :D

Intentionally making a bad map is alot harder than it sounds. Especially if people are judging the map on how bad it is.

A very cool competition idea, probably be worth contacting cranky steve for somewhere to host the winners! :icon25:

You've already lost. The worst map ever was made by me a couple years ago.

And there was me thinking that was the only sort of map you made.

(Sorry, couldn't resist. :) I think Mr Biesman probably wants his coffee. Now.)

We have the thread. Now for the maps.

Edit: the prize could be a MATROX MYSTIQUE!!!!!11111one

Hey, we could put these in a map pack.

Don't forget to add the obligatory unreadable AOL-speak readme.

Nah. I just had to harrass him back a little. :)

I may even dust of the old radiant and see how shitty I can map. (shouldn't be too hard, already lack the talent) :)
