PHOTOS PLEASE
You need a sponsor and I don't talk to people online enough to get one
That's how I do it, except I don't have a wide on the 5D, i have a 70-200 zoom. I'm getting better results with the 5D because I'm used to it, but once I figure the 1D out I think it's AF advantages will cancel out the 5D's photo quality. The holy grail would be a sealed 8.5 fps 5D.. Maybe in a couple of weeks.

5D, 1D MKIIN and already looking for an upgrade. Is this an obsessive hobby or are you looking to get paid in it? How are you doing this? Freaking some full time pros wish they could be in your shoes in terms of gear. :icon26:
I've been slacking off lately, averaging 100 photos/month mostly on fine art stuff and portraits. I used to shoot a lot of sports but lost interest because I wasn't paid enough and the hassle of getting press passes etc. These days I just do some private shoots here and there which are way more relaxing and pay better. Still it's a hobby more than anything.

I rolled it into my student loan.. Super low interest and I already have a job, so I'll pay everything off (including school) in 4 years or so after I graduate. Nice thing about photo gear is that if I decide to back out I can easily get back 80% of what I put into it.
I'm not looking for an upgrade, I'm saying that if Canon were to drop a 5D/1D hybrid, I'd sell both of them and switch to that.
Getting the press pass is the easy part since I'm not looking to go out of town. It limits my options, but it doesn't bother me. I might have some photos published in the UI's media guides next year, which would be cool. I'm really just trying to get my hands into everything, but prefer sports.

quick question
do any of you guys have places where you do, or can, post up higher resolution versions of your photos? i like to keep a stockpile of hi-rez images for refernce when working on some projects and the majority of the images in this thread are pretty much exactly what im looking for.
and granted of coures, if i ever used material straight from one of the images i'd ask permissions first.

I stuck the camera on my tripod, dangled the fucker over the ledge and used my remote. If the rig fell it would've definately cracked a skull of some poor kid or old lady buying veggies below.I think I like the last one the most.. #2 would be the next to last because you obviously thought about it before you made it and you probably had to do some monkey work to do it.

just went digital myself. was using an olympus c7070 wide zoom as my first digital (what most of the stuff i posted was shot with). best point and shoot ive ever seen. friend at magnum recommended it to me. i've since bought a D200. still getting used to it. ive been shooting film for so long with an F3 so it's quite different.

It's not very good, but the name of the geyser was too great not to post.
