That statement would hold some merit if it weren't for the fact that Humboldt Squid are most often found at a depth of 200 meters or more.
the statement holds merit because they come to teh surface at night, to feed, etc - even marine biologists cant fake that one. Ive watch documentaries that show divers swimming with them, and seen interviews of people who were attacked by one.....
infact they often live at depths deeper than 200 meters, thats not really relevant to the point though since they dont always stay at those depths
"Liberty, what crimes are committed in your name."
Near the Gulf stream where warm and cold waters intercept, giant squids may become trapped in the current and rise to the surface, resulting in their death.
I think i saw a documentary about those things, with this guy. Some unnerving footage... when they figure out he's not a threat they conclude he must be prey and they all start lunging at him. One even attempts to tear his goggles off.
When he goes to the surface they retreat, zapping white and red colours all over their bodies. Weirdness.
I believe the Kraken was a mix between a giant squid and a colossal octopus. It had the 8 octopus tentacles and the humongous body but in PotC2 as it attacked the merchant ship, it used two much larger tentacles to smash the ship into bits, causing the crew to slide into its mouth. Those were clearly the two giant tentacles that giant squids possess.
Need any help? Maybe I can do some sweet PS effects for your movie. Sometimes a nice fill gradient can make all the difference. If you need me to fill your kraken, shoot me an email. I've filled a few peoples Kraken, so I have experience. It will be as if god himself filled your Kraken. I'm that damn good at filling Kraken.
