So I'm planning to install xp64 this afternoon...
Is there anything I should make sure to have ready beforehand? Or is it a smooth process?
Are there any programs with specific 64-bit versions I should grab first? I've got Firefox ready to go, but that's about it. AVG's 64 bit version isn't free, so I'm ignoring that...
Anything else I should know/have?
xp64 installation checklist...

Get the 32-bit windows ready to re-install...
And i am not saying that to be an ass, i have installed XP-64 a few times now and each and every time, i couldent get basically anything to work... Up to and including windows update.
So all in all, make sure you have the Drivers ready and waiting, after that... Have fun

So it's basically an issue of most developer practices not being mature enough to completely phase out 32-bit apps? Kinda like back in 2001-2002 you had to download seperate apps for xp, but now you don't even have to think about it as everything works for xp. I imagine vista will be 64-bit native (one copy running both 64 and 32)? That could speed up the creation for most developers...
Jesus Christ, that was a big fucking waste.
Half of my programs wouldn't work, so I said "fuck this" and reinstalled my 32-bit copy.
When it came time to activate it... oh tough shit! -- you already activated this copy before. You can't activate it any more. Ha ha ha haha. Bitch.
I hope my school will give me another free copy, because I don't feel like talking to a Microsoft support monkey to explain why I need a new key.
Fuck. Well, thanks for the advice anyway, Amidy...

yea, werldhed....
i think microwank released that for two purposes...
one: to say/show that they could do it.
Two: for the up and comming developers to have a 64-bit windows platform that they can test/build/debug there programs on.
Other then that, its a piece of Garb in the fullest..
Glad you are back in the 32-bit world
