I have had the Logitech cordless MX Duo keyboard and mouse for a while now, a few years.
Well the mouse has been doing this annoying thing where it will take the rechargable batteries and make them last shorter and shorter after each recharge. I thought it was the charger that was the problem so I bought a pack of 4 rechargable batteries with a charger and it is still happening. I feel that at least the mouse needs to be replaced. I later saw an ad for Staples that has a Logitech MX3000 cordless laser keyboard/mouse combo for $50 after rebates, and Staples rebates have always come through for me. At any rate I would like to keep it wireless, anyone have good suggestions for a new wireless set or maybe just a replacement mouse that would work.

Well anyone know anything about the MX3000 bundle?
One thing I truly love about the MX Duo is that since it is wireless it retains the fact that I have F-Lock on so I don't have to install any Logitech software or drivers in order to be able to always have the F keys as their true F functions.

Try 2200 mAh Energizer NiMN rechargables. Ive had a set since my first MX700, and im still using the same batterys 2 mice later. Let the mouse do a FULL charge on them before using the mouse.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.
I am now sick.

I have tried those batteries, two pair of them, did a full charge on each pair. Now the mouse is eating Duracell rechargables. The first pair that I had were some strange brand, but they lasted forever.

Hm.. Sounds like the mouse is just defective. Call logitech, let em know. Im willing to bet they will replace it.

That's an awesome set. I'm using the Mx Duo right now. I haven't had any problems with the batteries at all. In fact, I changed the keyboard battery only once after 1.5 years.
I usually only recharge the mouse when it's low on batteries. Constantly recharging the mouse when the batteries are half full will shorten the lifetime of the batteries. I'm using a pair of 2500 mAh Energizer NiMH's.
The keyboard with the 3000 is a slightly better configuration, except I don't like the layout of the delete buttons. I like the feel of the Mx700 mouse more though. You may want to double check, but I don't think that set comes with a mouse cradle, which would be a major letdown.

Never had NiHM batterys go bad (not counting those cheap Peice of shit ones that come with it, they were right fucked from day 1) in a mx700 and i plop it on the charger whenever im not using it.
