S40 1.8 (125 bhp) with some look-good extras. It's amazing how feature-complete the car is in its basic form with things like cruise control and fancy audio. Oh yeah, and park assist, but not for me obviously ;)

nope, for some reason I just never found the time or money. I'm planning on getting it for years now, and each time something gets in the way (buying a house, expensive furniture, etc). Getting your licence in Holland is expensive as fuck by the way.

S40. Nice. I like Volvos..
I approve.

I do not, however, approve of this statement:
Now I just have to get my driver's license
Why do you have a car before you have a license. Did you get it new?

(edit: NM. I was too slow)

no, not completely new but only 1 year old, so as good as. My girlfriend (with which I've been living together for 8 years already) has her license though, so it really is her car for now :)

Nice car man, especially for your first.

Hell, my first two vehicles were only worth $1000 each.

Hey r3t, when you say expensive, like how much?

I think here it is about $10 a year (pay every 5). That's about 4 burgers or cans of soft drink. Probably under a $100 to sit the examination.

:dork: In France, governement set the license at 1 Euro a day for POOR people, but the other must pay more. That's why I'm saving money for my 18 years.
By the way, nice car !

I don't think he ment actually getting the license itself but taking lessons and doing exam, it costs a lot of money here in the Netherlands. €500 at least, which is like 650 - 700 dollar or so?

edit:
the license itself costs you about 60 euro I think, and is valid for 10 years. You don't have to do an exam again but get a new license at the town hall.

Even when you got your license it was much more than that. A typical package of 20 lessons (most people need 30) plus one exame sets you back between 800 and 1000 euros. If you want a complete package with a garantee that you can do more than exame if you fail the first one, you pay at least €1500.

Car's not yet delivered, expected to be all done by the end of this week.
