Pimp your (friends) band

Post by Ryoki »

Yeah, most of us like music, so it follows that most of us know (or are) people who are in some sort of band. Is this statement true? I don't know. I made this thread to find out.

So post a link to a site or some downloadable sample, and then the general idea is that your fellow posters listen to that and respond with constructive criticism and or terrible flames. Who knows, some bands might even be not all that bad!

I've always been a firm believer in leading by example, so here:

Obsidian

Sort of black metal, sort of different. Or so i'm told. I don't actually listen to their music because i hate metal, it gives me awful headaches. They won some prize once.

Escalatie Team

Hip hop in dutch. Pretty funny stuff, unless of course you don't speak dutch, in which case it's still worth checking out because the beats are great.
Unless of course you hate hip hop, in that case skip this one.

Cancelled.. dutchee "dynamic thrash" band (songs in english), first dutch0 band to appear twice on Rock am Ring and Rock im Park.
their first (and still only) video was the most requested video on The Box for 16 weeks - this was at the same time Metallica released St Anger - and aired the longest time allowed by The Box (1 year). just got back from touring in California.
and yet still no record deal for them :(

KCUF (dunno the link :o )
Drummer from Cancelled is also the drummer in this mostly American sideproject band. Their bassplayer is Shavo from System of a Down and lead gitarist is Munkey from KoRn. a bit gimmicky for my taste though, but fun hard punk nonetheless

Mark Mallman...
I don't really know him well, but I've partied with him before. More of a close-friend-to-my-close-friends sort of thing...

It's sort of piano-arena-pop-rock, sort of like Elton John in a way, I suppose. Not everyone's cup of tea, but for some reason I think it's still pretty good. I guess he's a hit around the state and has a number of reviews. He also once wrote and performed a 52 hour song. Eeks.

Samples HERE and HERE
(I'd suggest checking out "Play Piano," "True Love," "Life Between Heartbeats," and "Still Wasted.")
