lol, you said he was 'being used by everyone.' Why not just admit you don't understand what's going on? A lot of people don't the first time they see it.Kracus wrote:lol I'm pretty sure I'm getting some of it, just not all of it and if you say you are then you're obviously full of shit or better have a good fucking explanation. I have a pretty good idea of what's going on but I'm still unclear on a few things.
The entire purpose of that post was to proclaim that you're superior to Kracus - which for all practical purposes only serves to display that you have the same need for validation he does. Ah, irony does still occur in this world... you just have to look for it.riddla wrote:I completely understood it first time, but then again I'm not some half-baked-fucking-idiot-sub-100-IQ travel agent masquerading as someone intelligent on a quake bbs either.Kracus wrote:lol I'm pretty sure I'm getting some of it, just not all of it and if you say you are then you're obviously full of shit or better have a good fucking explanation. Memento is a pretty easy to understand film. It has a few bits which aren't completely explained (like Sammy Jenkins and whether or not he really existed, or was just a manifestation of the main character), but since the main film is actually backwards, you can essentially understand what happens immediately. Albeit, you need to wait till the end (the beginning?) to know why he did what he did, and the ramifications. Its a great film.
If you want a real headfuck movie, try watching Primer. That took a few viewings and some internet research before I knew what the hell was going on.

That's cool but those are actualy the things I want to know, and other things like what he did after he killed the crooked cop. As for Sammy, I'm pretty sure he was actualy Sammy, it fits with what the cop was saying and he wouldn't have said it unless he was really a cop and I'm convinced that he was. That's the key though. Cause you see when she took the insulin overdose she used her wrist watch, and not some other clock in the house to tell Lenny to give her the insulin. it's not a big deal but it's odd, I mean obviously you would want to do something else, like the livingroom clock, or the director did it out of error, which I doubt. I think it's jsut a little thing that's just fucked up in his memory to show that the memory is false, just like him tapping the tattoo needle all the time like he would a syringe, obviously he used to do it a lot, for his wife. Also, she survived the attack according to the police report.brisk wrote:Memento is a pretty easy to understand film. Well, try watching a little closer. Sammy's character is replaced by Lenny for a split second near the end (in one of those split-second frame techniques used in films like Fight Club).

Yeah I figured at the time I was watching it that it was just his mind playing tricks on him trying to figure out what was really happening. At the time, I thought I would know at the end but they just leave you hanging so I hadn't really thougth of that. I've only watched it once so far, I was going to watch it again tonight.
Re: Memento
So I never followed up on this but I did wind up watching this movie about a dozen times more analyzing the shit out of it.
I tried playing the movie in chronological order too which was pretty neat but the real headfuck there is that if you play it chronologically it ends differently than if you play the movie the way it's intended.
And I don't mean ends differently in the last scene is different. I mean it's a completely fucking different ending in regards to who the killer is.
But yeah... totally recalling shit from 2006, brain must be working overtime today.
