What if you're an American, and you're ready to leave?

Post by Mogul »

For the most part, I don't think I have to explain myself. There are about ten thousand threads around that do that for me.

I'm not _really_ serious about this yet, but I am able to do this, and it is coming to be more and more appealing just about every day. I'm just about ready to start seriously looking into leaving this place forever, for a number of reasons.

One of my very good friends actually _did_ move to Finland for reasons very similar to why I'm now considering getting out. At first, I thought it was pretty weird that she had the guts to do it, but man, I actually feel like I can, and perhaps should now.

So, there are a lot of things to start looking into. Namely, where the F would I go? :) I'm thinking Sweden.

I could never live in one place all my life. I've had a taste of different cultures and societies and I love learning about new people and places.

Vacations are shit. I hate tourists. The optimum way to sample a people is from their very own bosom.

I'd go to either Vancouver, BC, Germany, or England.
There are so many things about this country that make me want to puke, 50 Cent's success for example, and Wal-Mart. Then there's NASCAR. I won't even get into the Orwellian turn our government's taken lately, or the fact that pretty much every foreign policy decision made in this country has been to further corporate interests. What's really starting to get to me is our shit education system, both primary/secondary and the universities.
The thing that I hate the most is feeling disenfranchised, and utterly powerless to fix anything, as the system is inherently flawed.
If things keep going the way they are, I won't allow my daughter to grow up in this dump.

Hallstatt ^

Mogul, Canada is a pretty good place to live. And you can visit all your family down south in the winter. ;)

I was kidding about Dallas. It's a horrid city, in a horrid state, in a misguided country.

Sadly I've never been. I fell in love with the place when I saw it in Band of Brothers.

Austria is beautiful, but has apparently become pretty racist lately. It's the same with Denmark.

Australia's right in the middle of world politics.

If I were to move, I'd look at Vancouver, Frankfurt, Munich, or the countryside near Innsbruck. Aside from Vancouver, they're places that I've been and thoroughly enjoyed.
