I guess q3 arena was the first game i really got into online and I haven't been able to play as much anymore and I miss it! I got it when it first came out and played since (wow that was what, 7 years ago)? I like this one a lot, but it isn't q3. I wish they could give an updated version of q3 (that will run on current os x systems), with new models, but still keeping the same idea. what can I say, I am a q3 veteran. Good times in q3!

The Icculus Q3 runs on 10.4.6 (PPC and Intel). I've compiled it. Download it... they have a binary for PPC. I can give you an Intel build if you need one.
It's fucking amazing. Runs well on my G5, and the story is fun so far. I like having the troops fight along side you, though there are some trivial setbacks that I dont like. On the third hardest level its still quite easy and the action isnt all in your face as I'd expect, but maybe that'll change on the hardest level. The graphics are doom-like, but there is a lot more outdoors action and arena-style combat. It feels like a slightly more confined version of Q2 in terms of gameplay. The weapons I've used so far are great, and there are a few surprises in the game that have had me thinking "no way..."
I haven't ordered it yet, my machine wouldn't be able to cope with it so well anyway. I guess I'll be getting it for my next desktop machine. An Intel iBook is next though.
Quake 4 is a universal binary out of the box, so it will work on the new intel machines. I'm waiting for someone to do a hardware comparison with this game.
Out of the box it apparently doesnt have SMP support, but in the next point release they'll be adding that feature in. Cool! I cant wait to see the improvements. It ran quite playably on my computer under the high quality settings at 800x600.
