New PS3 Footage

next.
I'm not impressed by Red Steel's graphics at all, certainly not by those crappy scans. Some of the gameplay mechanics sound interesting but I'll have to try it before I can judge it.
You know, even though there is all this shite about HD this and high polygon that, you know whats at the top of my list?
The new Mario Bros game. Every time i read something about it i scream like a little girl. Just the other week i found out it had the Mario World/Mario Bros 3 style overworld map with secret areas etc and i couldn't stop smiling for ages. Its just gonna fucking own. Shame its not WiFi for some Mario and Luigi online lovin'.

I think my statement was broad enough to be applied to the entire graphics race rathern than just Sony.Foo wrote:It's more than coincedence that the regular nintendo 'supporters' are the ones casting less enthusiastic tones in this thread.
End of discussion.
Sure, take a potshot at me by saying that it's not mere coincidence that Nintendo isn't taking that route, but my opinion about the whole graphics thing doesn't mean that I think graphics are worthless, I just think people focus too much on them.
The reason why I'm so unexcited about graphics displays is that I've watched those things in awe for the last 15 years and with every new generation, the leap becomes less impressive.
Good graphics can certainly add something to a game. Resident Evil 4 might not have been so cool if it wasn't for the absolutely fantastic graphics. Underneath that though, there's quite a solid game that sucks you right into it. Take Unreal 2 or Daikatana for example. Both games which had relatively impressive graphics for their time but both sucked hard.
Considering RE4's graphics on the GameCube (and the Zelda footage we've seen), the fact that the difference between the GC specs and Revolution specs is relatively tiny doesn't bother me. At the same time, I also know that the graphics seen in this video aren't representative of what we'll see in the games themselves.
I'm not being a Nintendo fanboy. I'm being realistic. I'm too old to drool over a few polygons more.
