No, that's this thread :icon10: http://www.quake3world.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18653
Uhm, what would they have to take responsibility for? What should these children take responsibility for? They made a joke, on the 1st of April, with innocent, rather toy-ish looking boxes. What's wrong with that?ctrlnuke wrote:It's just the general attitude of people about these things. It's always very easy to blame the state and make fun of it, but my point is that if people would take responsibility for their own actions, it wouldn't be a problem.
Don't you see what's happening here? This is terrorists winning. You can kill all terrorists you like. Shoot them, nuke them or lock them up in semi-legal prisons but the fear of them spreads like a cancer through the world, most notably in the US. People actually being afraid of these boxes, while they're, for a major part of the population incredibly recognizable, is just sad. It's people being paranoid. It's fear. It's sad.
It's the fault of your and my fear mongering governments. It's the fault of the fear mongering public media. It's the fault of fear mongering people in general. Give these kids a break. They're kids. Not old enough to vote, drink beer or have sex in their own country. In fact not even old enough to be held accountable for their own actions. Their parents are responsible for that.
Kids do these kinds of things. And whether it's Mario related or not is beyond the scope of this discussion. Next thing you'll know it's playing hide and seek that's considered an act of terrorism.
People have done far crazier shit than this (in the name of art or marketing even) and got away with it. Far more obtrusive stuff. These kids haven't caused trouble for anyone. It's the paranoid fucks that called the police that caused the trouble. Let the police spend tax money to chase real crooks and robbers and catch real terrorists instead of harassing young children.
