I'm getting a lot of junk mail at the moment with the usual gibberish and an image with stock tips on it. The wierd part is, the stock tips look fake as well - so it's the most pointless sort of spam. Is this a packaged up virus or what?

Is the image attached in the email or is it linked from a server? If it's the latter, well there you have it, your e-mail address is now validated and will be added to the active spam list.

I think it's an attachment. One of the annoying things about entourage (mac version of outlook) is that every time you add something to your junk mail list, it insists on opening the fucker. I have images blocked by default in entourage.

Other wierd thing is, even if I have been added to the active spam list, I'm not getting any actual spam from it

Yeah, but if I don't either pay MS some money or check my email every 2 seconds, my hotmail accounts will get cancelled. Plus, thunderbird doesn't sync with my Palm.
