What a crappy day (56K FOAD)

Crappy day to take pictures of people on the lake, so I waited for them to come to shore

I think these next two are great because you have the look, then you have the attempted trip... It really didn't happen, but you can imagine it that way.

ick.. i need to export this one from PS.. damn beta software

In an 'artsy' sense this is so. But the bread and butter of many photographers is sporting events.

Well, I guess I would agree if I were to go take pictures of animals in the zoo, but like foo said, sport is not really art, it's about action... Although it can be art if you want it to. Its sort of like taking a boring photo of an everyday thing that anyone can see anytime... great. Sports are one time events so those boring photos become part of the action and what's going on. Imagine if I posted 10 photos of people rowing their boats 150 yards away with a lens good for about 30... now that would be spontaneous and meaningless (and a waste of everyone's time).

Good stuff. Dave is photography just a hobby, or have you taken classes, etc, at college and whatnot? I'm itching to get into it, but really have no idea where to start.

Hmm, I dont know. But you really have a great eye for photos, as can be seen from your previous pics you posted, especially the eagle and squirrel. These photos just dont catch my eye and look pretty dull for action shots. Keep it up.

I like to think I'm being paid in respect D:

It was about 45 degrees, which is about 15 degrees above my threshold of cold. The only punishment was the fact that it was dark outside when the weather fuck-o said it was supposed to be only "partly cloudy."

not bad, but you wussed out, should a been on the lake, might have got some great shots with mist, or condesation from their breath. I also like the dog one, once I realised it was not about to take a dump, but just sitting down.

They already had someone out on the lake, but I saw what lens she was using and there was no way she got much closer than I could have. The other set I posted a month ago or so was following about 20 feet off to the side or behind in their launch. The pontoon they had today was at least 200 feet away and sat in one location. It wasn't cold enough for mist or condensation and the lake was clear because the sun never came out and the temperature stayed pretty much the same between 3 AM and 9. I wouldn't have even filled 1 of my CF cards under those conditions, or I would have had 500 images of the same thing.
