Reports coming out of the US from the Games Developers Conference are suggesting that Nintendo's Virtual Console service (its planned retro classics downloads for Revolution) will lack some of the big name games belonging to the now Microsoft-owned Rare.
Apparently both Microsoft and Rare staff have confirmed to that back catalogue Rare titles like Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Jet Force Gemini and Conkers Bad Fur Day won't make it onto the retro download service. Perhaps most importantly of all the seminal Goldeneye will also be MIA, unless both Rare and new license holder EA manage to agree a deal.
It's bloody Microsoft and EA being cunts about it.
SEGA has announced that its games will form part of Nintendo's "Virtual Console" system for Revolution - in other words, players will be able to download classic Mega Drive titles and play those alongside Nintendo titles.
Thats just proves that Goldeneye would still kick new FPS titles into touch as a AAA quality game, nearly 10 years after release (fuck i feel old).
Basically it will be a big "fuck you" to the gamers who made Rare what they are today (M$ corporate ass kissers). Shame, now is the time for EA to pull their thumbs out of their arses and get their money out and fuck sports licences.

That's +1 for Revolution again
Thats great. SEGA owns rare anyway. Goldeneye always was overated.

It was fun because you had 4 people gathered around playing an FPS. That was most peoples first "lan" experience I reckon. Probably first mp FPS experience too.
Yeah and it had a shitload of multiplayer options which was great fun. It also was the first console FPS that was actually a proper, well playable FPS.
Other than that, it oozed quality. The music, the sound effects, the graphics, the multiplayer. It was all quality.
I use to love that game, played it a lot. then i played quake and other games online. I played goldeneye again recently...and yeah, its pretty shit.
its strange, i love retro games. they're still really enjoyable, but goldeneye for some reason or other isnt anymore. whenever i'm playing it, i think to myself: "if i want to play a console fps, why dont i play halo instead?" i dont do that with other retro games like mario or zelda or SF2.
just wondering--whens the last time you played goldeneye eraser?
edit: thats talking about goldeneye mp. the single player part i still enjoy, but i already played that to hell.
I cant spell u wrote:Last time I played it was about a year ago. I hope Turok is on the virtual console though, you have to admit that game was pretty bad ass.
