Quake 3 Arena or Quake 3 Gold

Post by Lyran »

Hey well currently i want to buy quake 3.
Ok so the local store is selling q3 arena and q3 gold .
What one should i buy or is gold just the same as arena with a few extras?
I also want to play online a lot so that may narrow it down.

Quake 3 Gold also contains team arena (I think) although Team arena isn't played much nowadays as far as i recal.

the TA demo was fun, because only the actual teamplayers played it.
then the full version came and all the omglolol quaek roolz kiddies and warezmonkeys infested the servers. so much for teamplay :E

TA was very well balanced when you had team players. Every force had a counterbalance, and there were some long, intense battles.

You knew you had a good game going when the majority of the time was spent with both flags in the enemy base, and the two teams in an all-out war to return theirs first.

Anyway dude, you can probably just get the regular edition since you'll probably never play TeamArena - that's the only difference between the two AFAIK.
