"XLink Kai is a global gaming network - bringing together XBox, Playstation 2, Gamecube and PSP users, in one integrated community. It is software running on your PC or Macintosh that allows you to play system-link enabled games online for free. Kai is the only service that is not console specific, and boasts one of the friendliest communites available."
It seems to be free counterpart xbox live that has a montly fee.
One nice thing about XKai is that you can control the UI directly from your Xbox. Run the engine on your PC, then navigate the arenas/rooms/servers on the Xbox and connect and play.
hmm...I was playing with 10+ people on beaver creek and there wasnt a bit of lag. Actually it was less laggy than xbl.
But I did look at servers that were only in the area.

I've got my Xbox on wireless. One or the other needs to be wired, though. You can't use Kai if both your Xbox and PC are on wireless. Unless the wireless NIC in your PC will enter promisicuous (sp?) mode, which is very unlikely.
That would just add more lag, innit? Not to mention I'd have to get a wireless bridge for the Xbox and either a promiscuous NIC for the PC or a wireless access point to hook up with the rest of my network.
I seem to have hit a roadblock. All the console detection shit works, I'm in the Halo2 Arena section in Xlink, have the console at available games. I join someone's arena, see no chatting or anything, nad no game shows up in my list on the console.
