Anyone played Republic Commando yet?

Post by tnf »

I need another FPS (still planning on giving mp painkiller a chance this weekend, but TBH the sp only keeps me interested for about 10 minutes max).

I've given up on GT4, with the final realization that I just suck at driving sims. I can't hit the apex of a turn at the right speed to save my life.

So, gimme another recommendation for a solid FPS (or any game for that matter.)

THere are about 1000000 WW2 shooters, right? Which is the most current of those?

you will want to pick up Brothers in Arms for sure tnf, ive been really enjoying it, and the reviews are very strong for it. its the most recent in the WW2 shooters, aswell as being on of the more original games of this generation (for an FPS atleast).

Republic commando i hear is alittle short but satisfying, i played through the first level today at work, and honestly really enjoyed it, really threw you into the action.

pick up either and ill play you on live if you like (if you still have the service).

same name as my account here.

tnf, wait 1 more week and get Brothers in arms.

Republic commando is pretty nice and its squad based action.. im not that drawn to the star wars univurse anymore though.

You can always try the demo: http://www.gamershell.com/download_8203.shtml

Brought it. The demo wasn't "amazing" but only because it didn't have a "thump". You know, weapons that feel like they are hurting something? But i'm used to that with star wars games.

I got this on impulse, I've been following it for a while, and it looks great, so its a nice addition to my collection.

I heard it lasts around 10 hours, which yes does suck, but think of all those people playing MGS3 right now ;) Whats that, 1 hour, lol.

The MP sucks ass i heard too. But hey, you can't have everything.

Installing now, I'll post screenshots later. The concept art on the installer is wicked btw ;)

If you haven't got this already... GET OUT AND BUY IT. The game so far is fucking "A" class, its rocking my socks so much i had to take them off. Its also pretty to look at too, and the way you have to give orders to your squad is great. The whole way the game is given to you owns, its Call Of Duty but Star Wars...

Its a cross between CoD, Metroid and Halo 2, and it rocks. GET THIS GAME.

Anyways, I quit to give up a few pics...

I rented the Xbox version, and it isn't bad. Not great, but not bad for a renter. I am not impressed at all with the sound effects or the weapon selection thus far (sound effects are a bit high pitched and sort of flat...).

Obviously the graphics aren't going to compare to the PC version in this case, but the gameplay itself is pretty fun. Some real intense firefights.

I think actually xbox is comparable to pc graphics, since tvs dont need aa to look real good and crisp. Look at Ninja Gaiden, and look at many new pc first person shooters with bland graphics.

I got that same feeling from star wars games. The weapons always seemed weak. No punch.

Now that some of you motherscratchers have had some quality playtime with this game (PC version), is it worth it? Do the difficulty settings give it some replay value?
