I remember the TV show "THE NIGHT STALKER" so vividly it scares me (no pun intended).

I always thought he was a pretty good all-round actor.

ok ive seen most of the stuff he's been in and yet none of his characters seem to have made an impression on me.

Probably the only reason I remember him is for the role he played in A Christmas Story. The other things he's bee in aren't nearly as memorable to me.
