Holy fucking YUM!

Post by Nightshade »

Recently, this backwoods, jerkwater, biblethumping state (North Carolina) upped the allowable alcohol percentage for beer. This opened the door for a whole shedload of SWEET imports, one of which I sampled this evening.

Yes, I know it's a shitty pic, suck my nuts. MY GOD IS IT TASTY!!!! 9% alcohol, too. Duvel is rather nice also, but I think this is my new favorite.

I actually think it's a pretty nice pic.. a little bright in places and too much background gibberish, but the colors are nice and it's straight. It's a lot better than that pic of feedbag that flabbit posted

Wow, thanks man! I used the macro mode on my A40. It's smarter than I am. I moved my desk lamp to change the lighting, but gave no thought at all to composition.

Learn to pour beer n00b. Tilt the glass 45 degress, no foam.

edit: It's a good pic, may have to try that stuff some time.

Pouring for proper head is an art, NOOB. Go back to your dorm.

edit: The Duvel has a head that I could insulate my attic with. :olo:

Your supposed to have a bit of foam and it depends on the beer, some beer even if u tilt the glass you still get lots of foam.

Chilled glass is the best way to go. :icon14:

I like beer occasionally, but generally not a big drinker.

What is the correct way to serve a Chimay?

Tilt the glass slightly and pour the beer slowly. Be very careful not to touch the glass or the head with the neck of the bottle. Then pour the beer in one go being careful to leave one centimetre of beer in the bottle. Don't forget to hold the glass by the stem to avoid any fingermarks.

I believe that the cap was 5 or 6%, or something equally gay. I never cease to be amazed that some of the grocery stores down here have such an unreal selection of amazingly good ales, lagers, and stouts.

If it doesn't have just under an inch of head, it's not beer.

Chimay is pretty good, if it's what I think it is. Try a Delirium Tremens sometime.

Chimay is good stuff. They have a couple of excellent beers. And a head is a requirement on a good pour. Just under an inch is what I'd say.

Friends don't let friends drink yellow beer.

edit: beaten by R00k on the inch head comment...

Poured myself a glass of home brewed Imperial Porter tonight. Tasting pretty good, but in another week or two will really be smooth. I added some vanilla to the mix, so it has a slightly sweet aftertaste. High alcohol, as well, I didn't measure this batch, but it should be 9 - 10%.

or you're pouring too fast. :icon27: Who the hell wants an inch of head? That's like a fifth of the glass wasted.

If it's a decent beer and it's being aerated properly when you pour it, you will have head.

Wow, Someone just learned about Ales.

Yes Chimay Grand Reserve is a good ale but there is better.

http://www.unibroue.com

While not Belguiem made, it is top fermented, has a kick ass abv value and most all of the ales are a must try.

Trios Pistoles, is the exceptionl one.

Enjoy.

I don't live too far from the brew pub and I swear it will knock your dick in the dirt.
Nasty nasty hops in this one. NW brew at its best.
